Stretching for Cyclists Workshop

As a massage therapist, Debbie has worked on cyclists for many years and been a cyclist for a few. Proper stretching is very beneficial to athletic performance, reducing injuries and increasing flexibility. In this workshop she will share her favorite stretches and muscle release techniques from her massage and yoga practices. Class size is limited to ten, so pre-register early please.

Monster Cookie Metric Century

The Monster Cookie Metric Century Bicycle Ride is open to all bicyclists who agree to ride safely and lawfully. The pre-registration fee is $14.00. The ride starts on the mall on the State Capitol Building's north side. The route will take riders over back roads north to Champoeg State Park and back to Salem. Choose clothing for all possible weather conditions. Also bring a spare tube(s), patch kit, pump, at least one water bottle and tools for on-the-road repairs. An A.N.S.I. or SNELL approved helmet is required.


Youth Bicycle Safety Classes

BTA Bicycle Safety Classes are starting up again, so if you've had an itch to volunteer for something, consider it cured! Robert Fox is the Salem/Keizer Area BTA Bicycle Safety Instructor and runs, well, bike safety classes, mostly for 5th-grade age kids. For each ride listed he will need 6-8 volunteers. If you can attend any of these rides and assist, that would be fantastic.

"ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER INFO: Please arrive ready to ride. You will need working bike, helmet, appropriate clothing, patch kit, spare tube, pump, (lunch if your shift requires it). Water and basic tools, first aid kit (if you have one) could come in handy for the kids. Please wear your BRIGHTEST clothes! Morningside is at the top of a large hill! So bring your low gears. Gubser School community ride is all on the streets, Sumpter has some off road in Woodmansee Park (way fun!) None of the rides are over about 7 miles, so you don't need to train for it. (I hope!) Salem Fairview Circuit Race

This race will be held on June 29 (a sunday), 2008. The course runs over smooth roads through the Fairview Industrial complex in Salem, Oregon. More information will be coming soon.
